Using a persona or your own numbers

Every lesson works with a persona: Maya (24), Jordan (31), Dev (46), Linda (58), or Ray and Ana (62). When you use a persona, you work on a practice copy of their plan; change anything you like, and use Reset to the original numbers on My plan to start over.

To use your own numbers, choose My own plan on the My plan page. The first time, we ask for your birth month and year (never the day), because the plan runs month by month and rules like catch-up contributions, penalty-free withdrawals at 59½, Social Security and Medicare start in specific months.

You can switch between your own plan and any persona at any time. Lessons always act on whichever plan is selected, shown at the left of the dark plan ribbon.
